Asheville, North Carolina Travel Recap September 2020

A little late, but late is better than never! I have had so many people ask about the places we went to, things we did, and hikes we did that I decided the best way to do this would be a whole recap blog!

Brenden and I wanted to go on a Fall trip and back in August he mentioned wanting to go to the mountains so we picked some dates and crossed them off!

We decided to make the more economical choice and stay just outside of downtown. It was literally a 3-5 minute drive and we saved about $75 a night, if not more! Before we went we made a Iist of things we wanted to do, places to eat and possible hikes. The list was long, but we narrowed it down and got things done!!

We left super early in the morning since it is about a 9 hour drive from Tampa and instead of going right into Asheville we went straight for a waterfall hike! We did the Linville Falls hike and it was gorgeous! There is an upper and lower falls trail and we did both! Neither are super long or strenuous. We then made our way to the hotel and got ready for a low-key delicious dinner at Packs Tavern (and we watched the lightning game of course!).

Day 2 we woke up and started driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a bit until we reached Craggy Gardens! We hiked the pinnacle trail and it was gorgeous! 360 degree views of all the mountains around. We left the parkway and got a late breakfast/early lunch at Biscuit Head. Hands down best place we ate at and I wish they had these EVERYWHERE!
Later that evening we headed out to a mountain top session with the extremely talented Jenna Pierce! She drove from Charlotte for us and I couldn’t be more in love with the photos. Even if it did include hiking in the mud with full hair and makeup and changing on the top of a mountain. (the professional ones are at the bottom of this post).

The next day rained pretty much all day but we did not let that put a damper on our day! We found a cute cafe to have breakfast at and then made our way to Linville Caverns! After the tour we explored the shops and boutiques downtown. We found a dessert bar called Crave and it was AHHHH-MAZING. We had a little s’mores board and it was so cute! We finished up the night with a light dinner and a flight of beer at Wicked Brewing Company!

Day 4 we woke up and went the opposite way on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The hike we planned to do was high in altitude and unfortuntely it was completely foggy, so we went down the mountain about a mile and explored Graveyard Fields and saw a waterfall. In the afternoon we went to the Biltmore but only did the grounds and the gardens. We spent some time there before heading to the village and then to The Omni Grove Park Inn for a dinner overlooking the terrace and watching the sunset! We of course went back to the dessert bar to try some other treats and it was just as great!

Our last morning / travel day! We woke up, got another round of Biscuit Head and started driving south. In Hendersonville we stopped at a cute Orchard my momma found for us! It was our last views of the mountain range and so bittersweet! We had a great trip with great weather! Asheville will definitely be seeing us again soon!

And here is a little snippet of some of the photos from our professional photo session! I am SO in love with them!
